Kick Boxing Frogfish, St. Vincent

Why should you go on a Photo Tour?

  • We organize the diving with the dive operator and hotel to maximize the opportunity for getting great photos.
  • Your time in the water is not limited.
  • Your diving isn't limited by non-photographers.
  • We dive the same "hot" sites (where the best photos ops await) multiple times.
  • There are others along to share tips and sympathize when you ran out of film just as the divemaster pointed out the red and yellow kick-boxing frogfish.
  • You can get photos like these (or better!):

  • (go to 2002 Gallery)
    (go to 2002 Photo Contest)
    (go to 2001 Gallery 1)
    (go to 2001 Gallery 2)

St. Vincent is our favorite Caribbean diving destination and it is the destination that consistently produces the best macro photos of any we visit.

If you have not been diving in St. Vincent, you will be amazed. (this is not BS, please ask for references or visit our Guest Comments page!) Our trips (since '96) are a huge success. Diver/Photographers came home raving about the diving, and the photo ops. Most of us loved the diving so much that we bought additional dives! The highlight of '98 had to be the trip with Roger Steene. We've never seen anyone so excited about the photo ops here. The 2001 trip was "Frogfish Soup", so many frogfish we begged Sarah (with a grin) not be shown any more froggies! (see the Dec. 2001 issue of Skin Diver Magazine).

Twelve Night package:

include 10 full days of diving (4 dives per day) and 12 nights on the island.

The photographic opportunities will concentrate on macro/close-up photography.

The subject selection in these waters is infinite and more colorful than you can imagine if you've never shot photos in St. Vincent before.

This is a
SUPERB opportunity
to get
award winning
photos.

On the '96 and '97 trips we saw and photographed seahorses on nearly every dive, In 2001, it was frogfish on every dive and in nearly every color. In fact, we were almost tired of them! Almost. (Of course these are not captive seahorses or froggies, so the divemasters would like me to mention that there are no seahorse or frogfish guarantees.) In 2002, we saw 100's of Magnificent Sea Urchins, 7 species of octopus and again... plenty of froggies! 2003 was the best ever; 21 different seahorses, 22 different frogfish.

St. Vincent is known for its healthy reefs and incredible variety of unusual creatures. We CAN practically guarantee that even very experienced photographers will see and photograph creatures they have never seen before, even if we can't guarantee what it will be.

Topside photography is also appealing here. The volcanic mountainous island is green and beautiful. Rain forests with wild parrots, old forts and churches, waterfalls, a rugged windward coast, the local market and lots of flowers at the oldest botanical gardens in the western hemisphere are there for the asking.

Debbie Fugitt, our photographer guide, has published in magazines such as Skin Diver, Scuba Times, Discover Diving, Sportdiving, Dive Travel, American Way and the Periplus Guide to Asia's Diving, including several articles on the St. Vincent diving. She now specializes in design and photography for the web. Check her underwater photography web page, SeaHorse Tales or her on-location reporting page.

About the Diving/Meals/Photo Schedule:

Diving & the Boat:

We will load the boat each morning with 3 tanks and lunch. The boat is very comfortable and shaded.

Included dives:

4 dives will be offered each day. There will be three daytime dives with the fourth, a night dive, scheduled either from the catamaran or from a smaller boat depending on the number of guests who decide to night dive.

Meals:

Meals at the hotel will be a special menu prepared for our group and served family style to minimize serving time and maximize taste.

Lunch will be onboard the catamaran or taken at a seaside restaurant on the coast of St. Vincent. Onboard lunches are included in the trip price.

The hotel will prepare a special menu for our group and served family or buffet style to minimize serving time and maximize taste.

Each dinner will include salads, selections of two fish or meat dishes, vegetables and rice or root vegetables and dessert. Allowing the chef to use local ingredients and prepare them in a local style means our group will have better quality and tastier food than is available on the tourist restaurant menus.
